Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is hard to believe that we have made it to the end of the school year already?! While I only began my appointment as principal to Sir Richard W. Scott Catholic School in January, I have gotten to know many of the students, staff, and parents quite well over the past few months. Sir Richard W. Scott is a lovely school and I am very grateful to lead this vibrant school community.
In spite of all the many twists, turns and changes this school year has presented, we have all learned to adapt quite quickly and quite nicely. I could not be more proud of our students, staff, and our parents for helping our students to finish the school year strong.
These unprecedented times have shown us how important it is to draw upon our Catholic Faith to help guide us, to give us strength and hope, and to remind us of the many blessings in our lives. I would like to thank our staff for their hard work in adapting their educational programs to meet the needs of their students during distance learning. I would also like to thank our students for doing their very best to participate daily in their online learning and to complete their assignments. Additionally, I would like to thank our parents for all their efforts in helping to support their children with their online learning while often having to work from home themselves. This has been no easy feat and the staff and I sincerely commend you for your efforts, flexibility, cooperation, and patience during these difficult times.
Finally, we sincerely thank our Catholic School Council (CSC) and our many volunteers for their hard work and support. We were able to purchase $2100 worth of chrome books for our school from funds raised from our recent CSC school fundraiser, thanks to your generosity! Our CSC also gifted each grade 8 graduate with celebratory lawn signs and photo memento books, which were distributed yesterday at our Graduation Drive-By Clap-Out in the school driveway. The remainder of the CSC budget will be rolled over to the Fall to ensure that funds are immediately available to purchase any resources/materials that might be needed to enhance learning for our students as the new school year unfolds.
Special thanks is also extended to Fr. Joseph Grima for his spiritual guidance this school year and to our School Trustee, Mr. Ecker, as well as our School Board administration for their ongoing support and assistance.
In closing, while tomorrow is officially the last day of school, many of our staff have opted to hold their final Google Meets today. Tomorrow, final lessons and/or assignments will be posted for students. Report Cards will also be made available to parents through the Parent Portal tomorrow. More information to follow.
On behalf of the staff, I would like to congratulate our Grade 8 Graduates as they begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives, and I would like to wish everyone a Safe and Fun-filled summer with family and friends! Please stay tuned for important updates from the school board about what the new school year will look like. Right now, no decisions have been made. However, please rest assured, that whatever delivery model of education the school board selects, we will remain committed to working with you and your children to ensure a smooth start to the new school year, so students are set up for success.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
God Bless,
Ms. C. Donovan
Principal
